Paying Attention to Environment

Paying attention to environment and your surroudnings is crucial and key to your success as a miner. For one thing, different land areas and environments contain different resources, which means different markups and different prices. In addition, looking at your landscape usually tells you where there isn't a claim.

A steep mountain where you probably can't even get the claim isn't the smartest place to place a bomb/probe. Nor is a town or a field filled with mobs that you cannot kill.

Sometimes, following your intuition on where the claims are can be your ticket to success.

Getting better Markup % for your Resources

If you can afford it, its much better to hold onto your resources in order to achieve a better markup % from traders. How is this possible? Usually, you will have small amounts that traders/resellers on the streets of Teleporters will buy. They will always buy for a profit.

However, when you have bulk, you are able to negotiate a better price for your goods, or even auction it off without getting huge fees.

If you can't afford it, try looking for a deal in the offtime you're not mining for the small amount of resources you already have.

Mining Tip # 8 - Increasing Productivity

Time is money. Literally. Who wants to waste time walking around with a heavy load? Here are some tips on how to increase productivity.

1. Make sure to buy all your probes/bombs beforehand, so that if you forgot to buy a good amount, you won't have to prematurely end your trip.
2. Bring Mind Essence and Teleport Chips, they greatly save the amount of time walking back to a near Teleporter.
3. On the run itself, bring a refiner to refine your enmatter/ore. By doing so, you decrease the weight load, making you run faster.

Mining both Enmatter and Ore

Many people suggest that while one is doing bad, the other does fairly well. In this case, you can break even, even while one is doing terribly bad.

Personally, however, I believe that while theoretically it may be true, it's not a good idea because of the skill levels. Each ore has different skill levels, enmatter with prospecting and drilling, mining with the others. Skill levels are a big part in determining what kind of enmatter/ore you get. Doing both will limit your skill level.

Mining Tip # 7 - Mining in PvP Areas

Mining in PvP areas can work to your advantage, but also to a disadvantage.

Since its a PvP area, less people mine there due to the danger of being killed and losing their ore/enmatter. With less people mining there, there are more claims to be found, leading to an increase in profits. If you find any time of claim, don't tell anyone otherwise they might kill you for the resources you mined.

Obviously, you could get killed and lose all of your resources, leading to a huge deficit, large amounts of frustration, and time.'

It's up to you to take the risk.

Mining Tip # 6 - Measuring Distance

Finder's have a radius ranging between 50-55meters. What this means is that in order to achieve maximum efficiency, you want to walk at least 100-110 meters in any one direction in order to ensure that your finder's radius do not overlap.

In order to measure your distance, you should count about 15-20 seconds between probes/bombs, or press P in order to be more accurate. Pressing P gives you exact coordinates, so you can use simple math to calculate the meters.

NRF - EU Mining Program

Like I've stated before, once you get the hang of mining, you will be returning to the same spots.

NRF is a program that allows you to record your runs, locations of claims, and much more. To learn more, click here

To accurately track your mining log, you should put in all the correct information, from mining amp, radius, tracker, and type of mining you're doing(enmatter/ore).

Temporary Disruptions - EU Official Update

Technical issues are currently resulting in lag for some users. The situation is currently being addressed and we hope that normal experience will be restored very soon.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Blausariam Mining Area

Between Nea's & Omegaton West is Blausarium. Not only is it abundant in "Blaus", but both areas are relatively mob free so you can mine without additional distractions.

Blaus has been known as a mineral that not only has a decent amount of markup, but has a high amount of abundancy - many people get Blaus as their global/hofs.

Mining Tip # 5 - Different Times, Different Results

Just because you mine a spot with a specific radius at a specific time doesn't mean that theres nothing there.

It is quite possible that if there is only one claim within the specific sphere that you bombed/probed, and you do two consecutive bombs/probes, the second one will find a claim.

Mining Tip # 4 - Returning to "Hotspots

If you ever hit a "hotspot" - that is, a spot where you seem to strike it rich or global/hof, you'd best want to go back to that spot.

The question is when. According to player results, most people wait 3-4 days for the respawn time to come, any less, and the resources have not "respawned" yet.

Remember, the resources won't be in the exact spot, but only in the same general area.
In addition, you won't be guaranteed another HoF/Global.

Mining Tip # 3 - Upgrading Excavator

Upgrading your excavator is based upon two things. Efficiency and cost.

Upgrading your excavator drills claims at a faster rate, allowing you to go on with other activities, and go on with your mining run. However, this is the extent of the effect of upgrading your excavator.

Most people keep a TT(Trade Terminal) - the most basic excavator, for most claims, and then a high-end excavator for huge claims. Most of the time however, people use the TT excavator due to the large amount of small claims.

Upgrading your excavator, in no way, increases the amount your claim will give. This is only a myth.

Recent Bad Mining Spree

Ugh, lately I've been on a barrage of small mining runs. Thank goodness I stopped early, otherwise I would have lost more PEDS.

I tried all my recent locations, but it seems that every time someone always beats me to it.

Total Probes Used: 55
Loss from Probes: 27.5 PEDS

Total Enmatter + Markup: 4.12 PEDS
Total Profit/Loss: -23.38 PEDS

As of late, my whole society and many of my friends have been going on bad mining runs. Not sure what's up with the world of mining in Entropia right now.

Mining Tip #2 - Upgrading Finders

Upgrading your finders is an extremely important part of mining. It allows you to delve into higher markup-ed resources in the ground. This is because upgrading finders increases the depth that claims are found - the lower the depth, the greater the chance of a bigger claim, and better resources.

It is reccomended that you upgrade your finder when you have maxed out the capability on your current finder. To check, right click your finder, click on item info, and look for average search depth. If the number on the left is equal to the number on the right, its time to switch. Otherwise, keep it until it is maxed out.

To know which finder to upgrade to next, refer to this thread.

Force Nexus Area

For those of you mining enmatter, you're in luck if you have the teleporter Segna Forest!

Force Nexus sells at an average markup of 135% and sells extremely fast due to its ability to refine with sweat to make Mind Essence.

All around Segna Forest contains Force Nexus, not only due to its isolated area on the map, but also because there are many mobs. Try to avoid the mobs, or drown them by going into the water.

If you don't have Segna Forest(westernmost land in Amethera), and try inching closer and closer to the outposts' revival terminals

Mining Tip #1 - Double Bombing/Probing

Double bombing/probing works wonders. Right after you bomb or probe a spot, if you find a claim, bomb or probe the exact same spot.

More often than not, you'll find one or more claims by doing so. My personal record is 4, but others have gotten up to 13.

This is because some claims are buried closely and densely within the 50-55 yard radius that your finder locates, so as a result, multiple claims are found.

It doesn't always work, but it should, more often than not.
